Wired Headphones not Recognized when Plugged in

Problem:

Plugging a wired audio jack into the does nothing. Audio continues to play through default speakers.

Solution:

  1. Dell Optimizer > Audio disabled
  2. Task Manager > Waves Audio Service > Enabled
  3. Realtek Audio Console > Advanced Settings > Enable Pop-up Dialog + Connector Retasking "Headset"
  4. Device Manager > Audio > Remove "Speaker 1 or Speaker 2"
  5. Plug in device
  6. Select "Headset" if device has built-in mic
  7. Teams > "Speaker - Headphones (realtek audio)" and "Microphone - Jack Mic (realtek audio)"
